Have you ever felt like your creative passion was turning into an overwhelming whirlwind of never-ending tasks?
Listen, you're not alone. I definitely hit that moment where my quilting business felt more like a giant weight than a joyous journey. But here's what I did about it, and spoiler alert: less is truly more.

I Hit Burnout After Only A Year In Business
After a year of writing patterns with mixed results, I couldn't take it anymore. My body was breaking from the long hours at the sewing machine, and my creativity was nowhere to be found.
Simplification was long overdue. I was stretching myself thin selling individual quilt patterns and managing an ever-expanding catalog. So, I decided to bundle my expertise into Scrap Academy: a course that combines my best quilt blocks into a choose-your-own-adventure-style book with over 15 quadrillion quilt combinations. Yes, you read that correctly. (Thanks to a diligent customer who's also a mathematician!)

Simplifying Allowed Me To Be A Thriving Multipassionate
You see, quilting ignited my creativity, but learning how to run a business truly lit me up. I realized I LOVE designing websites even more than I love quilting. But also, I'd be really sad to quit quilting altogether. I think this is what it means to be multipassionate lol.
My newfound focus was helping others shine online. Websites are my creative playground. The combination of tech and design? Yes, please!
Case in point: meeting Jen from Dizzy Quilter. Her 11 year old blog with over 500 posts was a HUGE challenge. She wanted a new, simplified platform with a course, and she needed to keep her Google ranking.
Spoiler: we managed to move her to Squarespace, build a website + course, and didn't lose her #1 ranking on Google.
Now she's selling passively, all because of SEO. It's magic, y'all.
Simplifying My Business Brought Back My Creativity
Now, with Scrap Academy doing its thing, I have breathing room. Simplifying allowed me to double my income almost overnight, and do more than one thing so I don't burn out. While the cash flow is lovely, the real magic lies in working with passion, not pressure.
Here's the core takeaway: freeing yourself from chaotic multitasking can rekindle your love for your craft. Reining in my focus to one thriving product has made me happier, my home more harmonious, and my business buzz with energy. I finally have the energy to expand my business in a way that feel DELICIOUS.
So, if you're caught in a tailspin of creativity that feels more draining than delightful, consider scaling back. It just might save your sanity. And who knows, it could also transform your business into something truly spectacular, as it did for me. Reach out if youโre pondering a new website or need a sprinkle of SEO magic. I'm here, thriving creatively and ready to help my fellow creators do the same.
