Here's the thing: you buy a $12 quilt pattern because it looks oh-so-cute at the fabric store (or on insta)
then you buy a few fat quarters and a charm pack...
and you get home and realize you don't know what the h-e-double-hockey-sticks to do with all of it.
So you throw it all on a shelf, and vow that this time you'll actually use it...just as soon as you find the right pattern for the right fabrics.
Next thing you know, it's four-and-a-half years later and you still don't have the confidence to cut them up (after all, they're your good fabrics and you have to save them for the right pattern).
So you put them BACK on the shelf, and write yourself a note to find just the right pattern that will give you the confidence to finally use them.
But you don't find that pattern. Until now.
I've been where you are, my friend.
Both as a quilter and as a quilt pattern writer, I've #beentheredonethat
I get so frustrated at all the new patterns that come out and look STUNNING in the new fabric collection on the cover, but nobody really knows how to personalize them.
i like scrappy quilts, not curated quilts
The history of quilting is rooted in using up scraps, and for many of us, it's where our passion still lies. There is pure magic in taking fabrics from your stash and turning them into an heirloom.
After all, if I wanted my quilt to look like everyone else's, I'd have bought it at Target.
I value the process more than the outcome
The single biggest struggle we face in the craft industry is the constant pressure to make something that is perfect, but has no soul.
Truth time? Instagram is the thief of joy. Spending all day scrolling through designers' feeds only makes you feel less sure of your own style. It's time to start making quilts that are uniquely you!
After two years of selling patterns, I started feeling LIKE QUILTING WAS ONE BIG HAMSTER WHEEL
-
I wanted to spend less time shopping, and more time creating
-
I had a huge stash of fabrics that I absolutely LOVED, but had no idea what to do with
-
I was sick and tired of always feeling like I needed the newest fabrics when I already had so much
-
I started avoiding social media because it just gave me FOMO
-
I wanted to make quilts that looked like me, not the cover of a magazine
I DECIDED to deeply reconnect to the hobby that I used to love
and I want to help you do the same
so i took all of my scrappy quilt ideas, and put them into a template that anyone can use

THE scrap vault
68 blocks | 34 layouts | over 15,000 different quilts
In June of 2024, I hit major burnout. To make matters worse, I went on Insta and told the whole quilting industry to f*ck off (#awkward). I was tired of writing patterns that featured certain fabrics. But the experts told me that's what I had to do to make a living: write, sew, launch. Use the newest fabrics. Sell your patterns with kits. It all went against the reason I started quilting in the first place: I love scrap quilting.
Not one to follow rules, I decided to do the opposite of what the experts said: I made a template that lets the quilter design her own quilts, using the fabrics that she already has in her stash.
Creativity is about so much more than making something that's perfect. As makers, we pour bits of ourselves into every choice we make—the colors, the layout, the feel. These quilts are a celebration of tour creativity, a playground for our own intuition and style. With endless combinations and the freedom to experiment, I want this book to inspire you to listen to your creative voice, to trust your instincts, and to let each quilt tell your story. It’s a call to embrace imperfect beauty and make something uniquely yours, no rules required.
