It hasn’t always been this easy. The stops and starts in my business. Taking care of sick family members. The toddler years. Remodeling a condemned house.

But focusing on a singular goal (financial freedom so we can focus exclusively on creativity) brought it all full-circle. It’s the lens we filter everything through. If it doesn’t support that goal, we’re out.

And our kids? They’re all chasing their passions. They already have successful businesses. They know how to manage money. They have the skills to build a future where they can create whatever life they want because they get rewarded for taking initiative, not rote obedience.

Schools reward obedience. Success rewards innovation + resilience.

I’ll be SO GLAD when the highwater (ankle pants, whatever) trend is over. Some of us grew up too poor for it to be cute 😬

Sorry not sorry, ya girl likes to eat a lot more than I like to fit a size two. I’ll be buying clothes from companies that allow their employees to be average-sized, and learning to make more staple items!

Here’s the other issue: as long as there’s a market for cheap 💩, there will be companies selling cheap 💩. You can’t be mad at the dollar tree for being janky, there’s clearly a market for it, you can just choose not to shop there. Same with Mrs. Quilty.

As soon as Mrs. Quilty started using AI and Temu fabrics, I cut off communication with them. I’m not upset about the work I did for them. I’m proud of myself for setting boundaries and moving forward when it was no longer in alignment. They don’t deserve any more of my time and attention, and please don’t give them yours either.

If you want to buy high-quality fabrics, buy from companies you know and trust.

Waiting on the fabric release had been a major bottleneck and I knew it. I was keeping my content clean-ish. I was still selling quilt patterns even though I knew it was time to move on. I wasn’t publishing my art because I didn’t want to violate my contract. Now that it’s gone, I can expand both my content and my art.

Substack has been a distraction for over a year. I was trying SO HARD to made it work as a primary ESP, even though the vibe felt *off* (it’s free for a reason). It’s been removed, and now it’s joyful and expansive to pay for my email provider every month. That brings clarity. It removes decision fatigue.

Losing it made me realize my email is working just fine, I was just overthinking.

Honestly, the prayer for clarity was terrifying. I knew I’d lose things that were important to me. I knew that there would be grief. And that grief would lead to growth. But staying stagnant was even more painful.

The energetic decluttering is just as addictive as physical decluttering. What else can I eliminate? How lean can my business get? How light can it feel? The expansion is INCREDIBLE.
